Why do people lie?
Why are we lying? To be better off. In order to be liked. For more money, more respect, for womanizing. To be liked better.
Most people admit they sometimes have lied to get something done and the people who can not admit lying are included as well. We are all the same
About what do people lie?
Research in England in 2001 by applicants has shown that about half of those interviewed has lied about their leisure activities. Perhaps for themselves to show more outdoors and adventurous . Another quarter has lied about their previous salary. Approximately 20% of people found it necessary to lie because they were better compared to other candidates. And 1 in 5 people did not feel as it was a lie, if those jobs, which did not went well, have not been mentioned.
What does lying cost?
In England, 25 million pounds per day is lost by fraud. 70% by employees themselves. It is possible that by means of a good interview other employees are being hired to reduce this damage.
The U.S. Mori survey shows that 80% of the candidates do mislead the other party. About 20% said to have a title which they don't have , sometimes even titles that do not even exist. Around 30% changed data, 40% increased their salary and 25% said companies which they have worked for not even existed. When it comes to get the dream job people would be happy to lie .
In China in the year 2000 the number of titles are even 600,000 bigger than the number ever issued. Where those people are working now, nobody knows.
Lie as a survival strategy
Animals use lies to stay alive. People for a higher status, so also a way to survive. To be able to lie, it is easy to know a lot about the subject you are lying about. It is harder for those less skilled in this field to see if it's true or not. It is not difficult to figure out what you really want to tell. For telling the story itself this is a lot harder.
Below is a fragment of one of the most famous lies of the past decades.

Observable signs of cheating
Hands to the face (mouth) one does not want the words to come out, or want to filter. Many times more blinking with the eyes than for the question.
He gives an answer to the question that has not been asked. In other words the answer to the question but he is fooling around. He is bouncing uncomfortably in his chair. He wants to respond quickly to show his honesty.
He swallowes hard and folds his hands together for greater safety. He avoids eye contact and say it's not had sex. This is true in the sense that the definition of sex is different. He tries to call this a fair statement , so he would not be caught in a lie. He showed micro expressions. These micro expression shows bored, disappointed, is annoyed this question has been asked. Then a micro-shocked expression. Also with a little conversation in which he is not speaking a lot he gets thirsty and needs a quick drink. He continually says this is covered by his statement. In this way he does not directly answer the question, so he can easily lie.
Conditions in order to detect lies
To be able to recognize lies it's important that we know how effective communication between people is done. More than 80% of our communication happens through body language and not by the words we say. How we walk, talk, move, watch and so on. This is why recognizing a lie starts with being able to read the nonverbal language.
But before we begin to recognize the nonverbal signals we must first know what comes out of our mouths. Verbal communication is where the lie begins. And so we begin here with our training.
